Βράβευση του Θιακού Ανδρέα Πίππου από την Αυστραλία με το “2021 Reading Prize for New Australian Fiction”

Ο ίδιος ο συγγραφέας σημειώνει σε επιστολή του:

…The Pippos family is from the town of Vathy on the island of Ithaki. I remember the first time I visited Ithaki, many years ago. On the ferry from Kefalonia I was nearly overcome with emotion: here, at last, was the beautiful island that my parents and grandparents spoke about, and here was the island that many great writers — Greek, English, French — transformed into a symbol of home. Here, at last, was the island that figures so prominently in The Odyssey: the ur-text of Western Literature. For the first time, I finally understood all those meanings of Ithaki. When I think about Greece, I often think of that island.

Greece has given me so much. Your nation gave me the food I love best, the literature that means the most to me, and it gave me the first people I ever loved — my family. Whatever happens in my life and writing career, I promise I will always think about Greece with my heart, just as my parents and grandparents did before me…
