Recently I have worked with people and communities in southern Europe through several projects and exhibitions. I have conducted workshops, interviews, digital data collection using mapping with participants, etc. to understand how communities perceive the EU and globalization, and their own local community identity. The topics and visual references from this research are the basis for a series of short animations.

Πρόσφατα έχω συνεργαστεί με ανθρώπους και κοινότητες στη Νότια Ευρώπη μέσω διαφόρων προγραμμάτων και εκθέσεων. Έχω πραγματοποιήσει σεμινάρια, συνεντεύξεις, συλλογή ψηφιακών δεδομένων με τη χρήση χαρτογράφησης και με τους συμμετέχοντες, ώστε να κατανοήσουν πώς οι κοινότητες αντιλαμβάνονται την ΕΕ, την παγκοσμιοποίηση, και την ταυτότητα της τοπικής τους κοινότητας. Τα θέματα και οι οπτικές αναφορές από την έρευνα αυτή είναι η βάση για μια σειρά σύντομων κινούμενων σχεδίων.
Στην παρούσα έκθεση υπάρχουν τέσσερα θέματα / κινούμενες εικόνες:
Διασπορά, Διαπραγμάτευση, Υποταγή, Σύνορα και Ανταλλαγές.
Η έκθεση/εγκατάσταση περιλαμβάνει 4-5 συνεντεύξεις, και μια συλλογή από κοινά οπτικά σύμβολα, στα οποία οι ερωτώμενοι αναφέρονται. Κάθε συμμετέχων / ερωτώμενος έχει τη δική του ταξινόμηση των οπτικών αναφορών, με βάση το κείμενο της συνέντευξης του. Πρόσθετα κουτιά, που περιέχουν κοινά οπτικά σύμβολα, θα χρησιμοποιηθούν για να βοηθήσουν στη δομή και θα παρέχει κοινές αναφορές σε επιπλέον συνεντεύξεις.
Πρόσθετες συνεντεύξεις και ταξινομήσεις αναμένεται να προστεθούν στην εγκατάσταση με την πάροδο του χρόνου.
Bιογραφικό
Είμαι Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής στο College of Design ,State University of North Caroline USA. Το 2002 ξεκίνησα να δουλεύω με συγκεκριμένο τρόπο / σε απευθείας σύνδεση με τα ακροατήρια στους καθεαυτό χώρους πραγματοποίησης του έργου, όπου γενικά θέματα παγκοσμιοποίησης έχουν ιδιαίτερες επιπτώσεις στις κοινότητες. Τα έργα και οι εκθέσεις που προκύπτουν είναι συχνά μέρος ενός μεγαλύτερου προγράμματος, που περιλαμβάνει επίσης εργαστήρια, διαλέξεις και άλλες δραστηριότητες, που συνδέονται με το χώρο του έργου. Έχω εκθέσει ή δημιουργήσει έργα σε περισσότερες από 90 εθνικές, διεθνείς ομαδικές και ατομικές εκθέσεις στην Τσεχική Δημοκρατία, την Κούβα, το Μεξικό, τον Καναδά, τη Γερμανία, την Ιαπωνία, το Ιράν, την Ιταλία, τη Σερβία, και τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες. Τα άρθρα μου έχουν δημοσιευτεί στα Zed, Statements, Brujula, Art Papers, Visual Communication, Design and Culture, and Design Issues. Recently I have worked with people and communities in southern Europe through several projects and exhibitions. I have conducted workshops, interviews, digital data collection using mapping with participants, etc. to understand how communities perceive the EU and globalization, and their own local community identity. The topics and visual references from this research are the basis for a series of short animations.
There are four themes/animations: Diaspora, Negotiation, Allegiance, Exchanges and Borders.
The installation includes 4-5 interviews, and a collection of common visual symbols that the interviewees referred to. Each participant/interviewee has created their own taxonomy of visual references based on their interview text. Additional boxes containing common visual symbols will be used to help structure and provide common references in additional interviews. The additional interviews and taxonomies may be added to the installation over time.
Bio
I am an Associate Professor College of Design/NC State University. In 2002 I began working with site specific/online audiences in project spaces where broad globalization issues were having particular effects on communities. Projects and exhibitions are often part of a greater program of local engagement that also includes workshops, lectures, and other activities connected to the project space. I have exhibited or created projects in over 90 national and international group and solo exhibitions in the Czech Republic, Cuba, Mexico, Canada, Germany, Japan, Iran, Italy, Serbia, and the United States. My articles have appeared in Zed, Statements, Brujula, Art Papers, Visual Communication, Design and Culture, and Design Issues. I am currently an ongoing contributor and co-editor of Design and Culture.
