Τι όλα τα εκτιθέμενα έργα μοιράζονται είναι ότι διαταράσσουν την τακτική των κανονικών συνηθειών μας και μας προσφέρουν νέες προσλαμβάνουσες. Οι ήχοι μεταφέρονται από το ένα μέρος στο άλλο, τα αντικείμενα τροποποιούνται και αντί για καθημερινά μετατρέπονται σε ιερά αντικείμενα, παλιές ιστορίες έρχονται σε μία νέα ζωή.
Bιογραφία
Η Sanja Hurem είναι εικαστικός καλλιτέχνης, με διεπιστημονικό έργο. Ζει και εργάζεται σε διεθνές επίπεδο με βάση στο Βερολίνο, Γερμανία. Υπήρξε καλλιτέχνις σε δημιουργική διαμονή στο Ιόνιο Κέντρο Τεχνών και Πολιτισμού τα έτη 2014 και 2015. Το έργο που έχει δημιουργηθεί σε συνεργασία με το Ιόνιο Κέντρο έχει επιλεγεί για προβολές /εκθέσεις σε πολλές χώρους, όπως το Εθνικό Μουσείο της Ακαδημίας στη Νέα Υόρκη και το Κέντρο Τεχνών στην Τενερίφη Ισπανία. Το εκπαιδευτικό υπόβαθρο της καλλιτέχνιδας περιλαμβάνει τίτλο σπουδών από το Πανεπιστήμιο Northwestern (ΗΠΑ) και μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στις καλές τέχνες στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Plymouth & Ινστιτούτο Transart (UK / Βερολίνο). Επηρεασμένη από την εμπειρία της να ζει και να εργάζεται σε διάφορες χώρες, το έργο της καταπιάνεται με τις ιδέες της διάλυσης, τον αποπροσανατολισμό, και την ποιητική του χώρου. Περιλαμβάνει κομμάτια βίντεο, εγκαταστάσεις και φωτογραφία. Κατά τα τελευταία χρόνια έχει εκθέσει στις ΗΠΑ, τη Γερμανία, το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και τη Βραζιλία.

Metamorphosis is an exhibition in which the transformation of space reflects an inner journey we take. We enter a space that is continuously emerging into something new. The ruined village of Old Vlahata becomes the focal point for this journey. The art pieces inhabit a space of the past and bring the new and old Kefalonia together. What the space brings forth is another way to encounter memory and myth in the present moment. Using sound, image and found objects, Sanja Hurem’s work explores themes as diverse as the life & death cycle, identity, and the fine line between imagination and reality. What all of the pieces share is that they disrupt our regular associations and offer up new ones. Sounds are transferred from one place into another, objects are altered from every day use to the sacred, and old stories come to new life.
Biography:
Sanja Hurem is an interdisciplinary visual artist working and living internationally with a base in Berlin, Germany. She has been a resident at the Ionion Center of Arts and Culture in 2014 and 2015. The work she has created in cooperation with the Ionion Center has been selected for shows at numerous venues, including the National Academy Museum in New York and the Tenerife Arts Center in Spain.Her educational background includes degrees from Northwestern University (US) and graduate studies in fine arts at Plymouth University & Transart Institute (UK/Berlin). Influenced by her experience of living and working across different countries, her work deals with ideas of dissolution, disorientation, and poetics of space. It encompasses video pieces, installations and photography. Over the past years she has exhibited in the US, Germany, UK and Brazil.
